Abby Kaul

I am thrilled to be a part of Holy Family Catholic School, returning now as a teacher after all three of my children attended this amazing school. I will be teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts (ELA) bringing with me 31 years of experience in public schools. My passion lies in middle school education, where I've spent most of my career. Initially, I began my teaching journey in special education before transitioning to ELA. I grew up in a small town in Wyoming and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a dual degree in English and Special Education. I later earned a Master's in Severe Needs:  Affective from the University of Northern Colorado. I am married to my husband Rich, and we have three children: Kaitlin (27), a GCU graduate with a hospitality management degree; Madeline (20), who will be a junior at the University of Wyoming; and Jack (17), a senior at GJHS.

Outside of school, I love traveling both domestically and abroad, ensuring I get my fill of both the mountains and the beach! Throughout my teaching career, I've led many student groups to Washington, DC, New York City, and even Europe. In the summer, you'll find me hiking and playing golf, while in winter, I enjoy skiing and snowshoeing. A few fun facts about me: I make my own pasta, I've completed two half marathons (even though I don't consider myself a runner), and I've been lucky enough to attend the Kentucky Derby. I'm a practicing Catholic, and my faith holds great importance to me. I'm eager to share this aspect of my life with my students. I have previously been involved in IHM's religious education, specifically teaching First Reconciliation and First Communion classes. I'm excited about the opportunity to work with the students at HFCS and helping each of them become the best version of themselves.
